By Randy Sprick and Randi Saulterhttp://www.safeandcivilschools.com/newsletters/archive/2017/2017-March.php
No matter how well you organize your classroom and teach your expectations, some misbehavior is still bound to occur. View misbehavior as an opportunity to help students learn. This viewpoint will help you respond to the misbehavior effectively.
Most chronic misbehavior serves a purpose for the student. Because there are many reasons why students misbehave, corrections for specific misbehaviors are more effective when they address the underlying cause of the misbehavior. Misbehavior may be due to lack of awareness, lack of ability or skill, attention seeking, or habitual behavior. The diagram below may help you with a framework for designing effective interventions.
